Terrorism in Singapore is Possible!

My info is based on the assumption that the terrorists and other criminals are WELL PREPARED (they already possessed the necessary know-how and had their arsenals ready) to strike but lack the VITAL piece of info on how to execute or successfully launch a terror attack and other fatal attacks that could bring down the nation.

Undiscovered, Unknown & Unexpected Security Threats

Hi and welcome again.

Singapore’s security and safety has been deemed as one of the safest in the world. Singapore law enforcement agencies like the Police (SPF), military (SAF), other Home Team members like SCDF, ICA, etc are deemed well-prepared to handle various security threats like suicide bombing, terror attacks (CBRE), hostage-taking, riots, etc.

Our Auxilliary Police Force (APF) a.k.a. armed guards are empowered to act under certain security crises and are armed and trained to handle various scenarios.

But did you know that there are still loopholes that if left unplug can be made use of by organized crime syndicates, terrorists and other criminals?

The authorities and some “security experts” have dismissed some of the discovered “possible security threats” but even they don’t KNOW that there are many ways to go about it.

And worst of all, one of my discovery that can be easily exploited by the criminals and terrorists is still undiscovered, unknown and unexpected by the relevant authorities!

“There are 101 ways to skin a cat.”

Singapore’s Integrated Resort – Impenetrable Icons?

Hi again,

The government has collaborated or provided some security expertise and recommended some shatter-proof glass and structural re-inforcement to be used in the 2 new Integrated Resorts in Marina Bay and Sentosa Island.

Other security measures include target hardening, CCTV surveillance system and other pyhsical security measures like perimeter fencing, concrete posts, bollards, etc.

Tight access control, perhaps using biometric access control system for their staff and perhaps guests and visitors may have to register with the guards before being allowed to enter the resorts.

Other impressive security measures include a separate drop-off point for VIPs.

BUT are you aware that even the best of structural materials, security systems, manpower security, physical security, etc is NOT fool-proof against a WELL-PLANNED and DETERMINED terror attack?

Can Obama Restore Peace & Security?

Hi all,

US President Barack Obama’s approach in handling terrorism, extremism, countries previously deemed hostile or anti-USA is completely different from his predecessor.

Obama’s numerology based on his Date of Birth 4 Apr 1961 in 2009, he’s undergoing cycle 5 – lots of obstacles. He will be emotional, easily disturbed or provoked, unpredictable, may have bad temper, very busy and pressured.

A Malaysian astrologer mentioned in an article that he may even be impeached!

Will we see the USA finally shift their support for Israel?

Will there be peace and prosperity in the Middle East?

Will the extremists and militants aim for peace and stability?

Or will there be more violence and terror attacks?

Can Barack Obama restore USA’s financial ruin, restore peace in the Middle East or seek to improve closer ties with China P.R.C.?

Only time will tell.

It Takes a Crook to Catch a Crook

Ever wonder if the authorities can really prevent or deter crime? Experts may become crooks and crooks may become experts!

A good example is a young IT savvy guy who hacks into government and corporate websites for fun or to deface or cause destruction, perhaps as for fun or he simply loves challenges of hacking into someone’s website to create havoc.

Years later as he grew mature, he may become a Certified Ethical Hacker, working for his boss to fence of cybercrimes, unauthorized website intrusions, infiltrating the website with trojan or virus, etc.

We have read about more people becoming terrorists on a do-it-yourself or self-taught basis (can be learnt from websites or any video sharing websites and social websites like Facebook, etc) and quite a number of them are professionals or skilled workers. Condominium manager, doctor, lawyer, etc. Anyone and anybody who wants to become or join terror organizations can do so very easily.

E-books, e-reports, videos, podcasts, webinars, blogs, vlogs, etc can be used as an effective medium or vehicle to bring these like-minded people together.

Detainees under the Internal Security Act in Singapore for being a member or with links to terrorist organizations are detained with the hope they they are rehabilitated spiritually and no longer pose as a security threat before they are released back to the society.

So long as he has not committed any murder or mass murder, he is not guilty as it was based on ideology or faith.

Hmm, think about it. Think hard.

Is Singapore’s Security Really Highly Hardened?

If you are a Facility Director, Facility Manager, Security Director, Regional Security Manager, Country Security Manager, Group Security Manager, Security Manager, Security Consultant, or from the Ministry of Home Affairs (including SPF, CNB, SCDF, ICA and Prisons), Auxilliary Police (Certis CISCO & Aetos), MINDEF (including relevant agencies such as DSTA, DSO) and other statutory boards and committees that are involved in the national and private security matters, including associations (Singapore Hotel Association, Security Association of Singapore, Association of Certified Security Agencies, Security Systems Association of Singapore, Asian Professional Security Association (Singapore Chapter), American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS Singapore Chapter), etc. then you are reading the right blog.

For most security professionals (government and private), I’m sure you follow the latest world, regional and local security news or trends closely.

News like the Sentosa IR that is built and reinforced with building material or facade that is able to withstand bomb blasts, most of the public infrastructure like underground expressway tunnels, MRT tunnels, key government installations, etc are target hardened, able to withstand bomb blasts, chemical attacks, biological attacks, etc.

And in the Mumbai terror attack aftermath, our state security agencies has said that they will send their guys to learn first hand from the Indian security agencies of how we could better handle or prevent such precise and well-planned terror attack from taking place here in Singapore and in turn the Singaporean security team will share these info with some selected organizations or certain private sectors.

Most recently, The Straits Times has reported that Shangri-La Hotel Singapore has almost of it’s areas covered by CCTV cameras and a team of security officers are monitoring it.

I’d like to pose a question worth pondering by our national and private security professionals.

Are our key installations, infrastructures, building premises (selected, like 5/6 star hotels, IRs, financial institutions, public transportation (MRT, LRT and buses), etc are really secured and safe from any terror attacks – bombs, IEDs, biological, chemical, etc? [Exluding nuclear as our nearest neighbors still don't have nuclear bombs yet.]

We’ve heard of ”self-taught” terrorists and that terrorists can’t be stereotyped easily. There are professionals turned terrorists – lawyer, condominium manager, doctor, etc.
